Dr. Caitríona Ní Laoire

Dr. Caitríona Ní Laoire is GENOVATE Scientific Coordinator at University College Cork, Ireland. She is a Lecturer in Applied Social Studies and Deputy Director of the Institute for Social Sciences in the 21st Century, which hosts GENOVATE at UCC. Her research interests coalesce around the themes of gender, migration/diaspora, childhood/youth, equality, rurality and identities and the use of qualitative research methods such as life-narrative and children-centred methods. Throughout her research career, she has had a particular interest in issues of equality in academic labour markets, and has conducted research on the casualisation of the academic labour force and on the gendered nature of the discipline of Geography in Ireland. She was Principal Investigator of the Through the Glass Ceiling project at UCC which aimed to empower female academics and researchers in relation to their own research careers and to tackle gendered inequalities in academic structures. She has published widely in these areas.
